Ashod, Israel April 7th

Our visit to Ashod was very relaxing.  Most of our fellow travelers went on tours to Jerusalem, Masada, and the Dead Sea.  Noreen and I had visited all these places and others on previous travels.  It was like having the ship to ourselves.  We did take some time to wander around a bit.  One thing I noticed immediately was the shore area.  In most past ports we had vendors, buses, lines of cabs and all kinds of miscellaneous people around the ship.  Note with Israeli security there is nothing around the ship and there is a barrier of shipping containers providing a security zone.  They let two cabs at a time in the area and no busses.

Here are some views around town.  We saw no single family housing.

We did notice that except for logos (like McDonalds above) the signage was all in Hebrew and no English or other language.  You may remember I commented earlier about how surprised we were at the predominance of English as a second langue in the places we went.  Perhaps Ashod is not that big a tourist area to justify multi-language signage.

This ends our time in Ashod and on to Kusadasi, Turkey
